Memorable Souvenirs: Why Jewelry Makes the Best Keepsake

If you’re the type of person who loves to travel and shop for the perfect souvenir, getting jewelry from every place you visit could be the missing piece you never knew you needed. I’ll be the first one to say, shopping during the trip for souvenirs to remember the memories you’ve made is one of my favorite things to do on vacation! I’ll forever be the girl who has to get a postcard everywhere I go and of course a small knick knack however things got much more interesting once I got my own place and didn’t have room to display all of my favorite souvenir items. So I started looking for unique jewelry everywhere I traveled to, sometimes it was obvious where I got it and other times it wasn’t always destination themed. Nevertheless I got quite the reputation for my unique jewelry. For instance, whenever I meet a new person one of the first things they always say is “I love your rings! Where did you get them?” I love being able to answer that I got them as souvenirs and reminders of where I traveled. I think getting jewelry as a keepsake is actually one of the coolest life hacks no one really knows, and once you do know, you’ll never see traveling the same.

How & Where

Let’s get one thing straight, when I say shop for jewelry I am not saying “buy gold and diamonds every time you travel,” that’s not realistic in the slightest but if you can do that every time, props to you. Anyways, when I am looking for the perfect souvenir I usually prefer rings because that’s what I wear the most. I love going for real metals and gemstones, sterling silver is the most affordable option and will last forever! I’ve also gotten some really pretty jade jewelry as well. However, it’s really about preference, if you’re a gold girly try looking for gold filled jewelry or brass, if it’s high quality materials then it will last long with the right care.

Shop local!!! I can not stress this enough, when you’re traveling somewhere new it’s a great way to get authentic pieces and support small business. Every time I travel I love going to the local jewelry stores and seeing the different types of styles and designs. All of the jewelry I’ve gotten has been from small and local businesses and they are my favorite pieces to this day, plus if you’re abroad you can get it tax free!

Some of my favorite pieces

I have always had a bucket list of things to try and get in different places and one of my bucket list items was to get a cameo ring in Florence Italy. To this day it is my favorite souvenir from my entire honeymoon trip that I will cherish forever. I also have an entire youtube video dedicated to my jewelry collection and everywhere I got my favorite keepsake pieces so make sure to check that out to see them.

So the next time you’re traveling and want to get something you know you’ll love and cherish forever, try getting a unique ring or necklace. This way every time you wear it you’ll remember all of the fun memories you made of the trip and you could even pass it on as a future heirloom with a cool story.
