How the Hatch Restore Sunrise Alarm Clock Changed my Life

When I first heard of the Hatch Alarm Clocks, I honestly thought it was just the latest trend to have this aesthetic looking alarm clock. I thought “what’s wrong with just using my iPhone alarm app? Why spend so much when my app is free?” Then all of my friends got one for Christmas and swore up and down it was definitely worth the hype, so I decided I needed to try it for myself.

I made up my mind that if I didn’t think this clock was worth it, it was going right back. I am big on returns, if a product doesn’t serve you, then it’s that simple. I decided I was going to give the alarm clock three days to test and see if it really worked for me and made my life better. The first day it came in, I unboxed it and set everything up, I noticed the packaging was giving Apple level packing. It was very sleek, clean and to the point. First thing I noticed was the QR code to set up the app, from there it took me about 15 minutes to set up all of my alarms, sounds and light colors. I appreciated that the app’s set up instructions were user friendly and my favorite part is that the app is FREE! There is no subscription required, however there is a premium version of the app that is available for purchase.

Sleep

Within the app they had so many different sounds to choose from, I set up my night routine first. It was so fun going between the different sounds and lights, I decided to add the “unwind” and “sleep” features and customized the lighting to match accordingly. I set the unwind feature to play a “campfire cradle” sound while displaying a dim red light that kind of looked like a sun setting. I set it for 15 minutes and then the sleep feature for 30 minutes. Once the unwind setting had run its course, I set the sleep setting to no light and a “rainstorm” sound. I’m someone who has severe insomnia and I usually have to take melatonin every night to fall asleep. I was skeptical at first but I decided to not take melatonin to give this product a true test. Once I set up my night routine I put my phone up for the night and read a book during the unwind period. Surprisingly when it came time to sleep, the rain noises were so calming that I fell asleep within minutes. That was the first night I had fallen asleep without melatonin in years.

wake

Now for the wake up test. I’m also the type of person that sleeps through hurricanes and fire alarms, so I was afraid this clock wouldn’t be able to actually wake me, a super heavy sleeper, up. The same night I set everything up, I set the alarm to wake me up at a certain time with a bird chirping sound, and a red to super white light. The way the Hatch Restore 3 Sunrise Alarm Clock wakes you up is super gentle. It starts with slowly changing the light from dim to bright in however long of a time period you want. I chose 30 minutes, so for 30 minutes my light went from red, to yellow, to a super bright white, kind of like a sun rising, with the bird chirping sound gradually getting louder within the time frame until it was reasonably loud enough to wake me up. The thing was, I’ve never woken up that peaceful before. It felt like I was in a far away land where everything was calm. The crazy part was, it actually woke me up….me, the heaviest sleeper ever.

Needless to say, this clock has changed my life for the better. Is it expensive? Yes. Is it worth it? YES. My quality of sleep has gotten so much better and I am no longer stressed by the blaring sound of my iPhone alarm clock every morning. It’s a totally different experience every night now, I’m excited to go to sleep and hear my rain sounds and wake up to tranquil happy birds chirping, even though I live in the city and there’s no birds chirping around me. If you’re on the fence, just try it. It might just change your life.
